Treatment We Offer
Initial ADHD Testing and Psychiatric Evaluation
Medication Management (both in person and via telemedicine)
Individual Therapy (both in person and via telemedicine)
Initial ADHD Testing and Psychiatric Evaluation: The process of testing can be a time-consuming one. We recommend that you plan to spend up to 2 hours on the process of testing and psychiatric evaluation and that you try to get a good night’s sleep the day prior to testing. We also recommend that you bring a snack with you to this visit in order to maintain your energy throughout testing. You are welcome to take breaks as needed.
No single test on its own is diagnostic of ADHD and therefore, a number of tests and screening tools are used along with a thorough history and evaluation by a psychiatric provider in order to arrive at an accurate diagnosis. At The Focal Clinic, we utilize the most universally accepted testing instruments for their sensitivity and specificity in order to aid in the diagnostic process.
Medication Management: Once an effective medication treatment has been established, continued treatment requires ongoing monitoring in order to ensure the most safe and effective outcome. Though each client is different in terms of their needs and complexity, a client who reports good symptom management and who is not complex in terms of their needs or presentation, may be scheduled for medication management once every 3 months. In every case, the first few appointments will occur at more frequent intervals in order to arrive at the right treatment and dosage. While we make every effort to provide convenient treatment, your health and safety will always be prioritized first in our clinic.
Individual Therapy: Therapy can be a very rewarding and life-changing experience. There is nothing more empowering than being challenged in ways that will allow you to make changes you never thought could be possible. As therapists, we would be honored to help guide you through this journey.
Group Therapy: “I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard and valued; when they can give and receive without judgement; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” – Brene Brown
We strongly believe that a necessary component of health is community. Our groups foster the kind of community that allows the group to heal itself while promoting the connection that we seek to become the best version of ourselves.
